Creating a Watch Party Room

A Watch Party is a room where attendees can come together to watch something on a large screen and converse or react to it without interrupting other attendees.

To create such a room, follow these steps:

  1. Create a room with a large projector zone (for live presentations) or a video zone (for pre-made content or live presentations hosted on third-party websites)
    1. If you are using a projector zone, set it to broadcast to all copies of the room, and adjust your permissions accordingly
    2. If you are using a video zone, insert a link to your chosen content. You may optionally choose to enable the "Fullscreen" function
  2. Enable an avatar override for your room. Set your microphone access to "Mute Always", or disable avatars entirely.
    1. If you are electing to keep avatars enabled, you may want to place your movement zones such that they do not encompass the content. This ensures that attendees cannot "climb onto the stage" and obscure anything
  3. Enable the chat function for this room and set it to Sidebar mode
    1. If avatars are enabled, you can instead use the bubble chat function to simulate discussion within an audience
  4. To enable non-verbal cheering, you can also enable the Emoji toggle in the room settings

Gathering Everyone for the Watch Party

If your attendees will have a chance to wander around your venue before your watch party, then you may want to give everyone an easy way of both knowing that the party is starting, and then getting to the party from wherever they are in the venue. The solution lies in Sending Notifications.

Note that notifications are only available during Popup Events. For more information on Events, see here.
