What is an Event?
If your venue is designed to host something which is only open for a certain amount of time, or is designed to be limited to a certain group of people, then you may want to set up a Popup Event.
Features:
Popup Events grant you greater control over both the venue itself and the flow before, during, and after your big day. By setting up an Event, you gain the ability to:
- Create a link that only works for a specific stretch of time
- Reschedule and reuse any links you generate
- Create a customizable page with a countdown to your event's opening day, and another page for after the event has concluded
- Restrict attendance to VIPs with their own tickets
- Create one link that works for both desktop and mobile users
- Post notifications and admin messages across your venue
- Monitor exactly how many people are in your venue at any given time
- Watch and moderate any chatrooms within your venue
Events can get set to take attendees to any venue you are a collaborator on, and can be set to start and end at any arbitrary time. Additional collaborators can also be added to the event in much the same way that collaborators are added to venues, and the public link you share is automatically protected against regular attendees trying to sneak in early.
Basic Concepts
Events are a layer of organization which grant access to your venues, but which are not permanently tied to any specific venue. They provide a set time and a set of tickets for entry, and provide the means to monitor your attendance, but the actual content that your event will serve is determined by the venue your event is set to send attendees to, which you can change at any time.
When compared to a physical event, a Popup Event is the marketing, distribution, and community management of your event, while the venue is the location that the event will take place at and the things set up therein. As with physical events, a Popup Event can occur again with all the same infrastructure, but at a new location.
Note that if your venue is also set to be public and you have shared this link, then attendees in your event will not be able to converse or interact with attendees who are simply visiting the venue outside of your event.
