Video Zones
Video zones allow you to place a customizable video player anywhere in the room. They feature optional playback controls, volume settings, and loopback options.
Videos can be sourced either from your venue's assets, or from outside sources, wherein most major video hosts and their video players are supported.
Unlike video backgrounds and video popups, video zones can be positioned, rotated, and scaled arbitrarily. They can also be set to play without any user input, and can be layered with other components.
🙌 If you have enabled controls for your video, remember that those controls are affected by your chosen fit behaviour too! Therefore it is recommended to use the "Contain" or "Stretch" fit types if you need controls, to ensure that your controls don't get clipped off.
When using a standard video, playback will not be synchronized between attendees, and everyone will see the video start from the beginning when they enter the room. If you would like to synchronize playback for everyone, you may find more luck using a Projector Zone and sharing your screen to all other attendees instead. Through this method, everyone else will see exactly what you see regardless of when they enter the room.
Livestreams
Video Zones also support live videos on most major video hosts capable of livestreaming, which may be more useful to you if your presentation will primarily feature just one presenter, or if you will require third-party editing tools for your video feed.
You can embed a livestream using the same method provided for linking all external videos; simply use the public link to your livestream.
If you do not require all the tools a Video Zone offers, consider using a Projector Zone instead.
- Source: Allows you to either select a video from your venue assets, or link a video from an external source. This source can be changed at any time.
- Autoplay: This determines if the video starts playing as soon as an attendee enters the room. Like all settings, this can be toggled while attendees are already in the room to control playback.
- Repeat: This determines if the video will loop upon ending.
- Volume: This allows you to set the volume that the video will play at. It can also be set to 0 to mute the zone.
- Width/Height: This allows you to set the size of the video player in pixels within the bounds of the zone. Note that this will have different effects based on the fit type of the zone. This defaults to 1280x720.
- Poster (Optional): This allows you to set a thumbnail that will display when the video is not playing. It will also display behind the video player if it does not fill the confines of the zone. Note that the fit type of this poster defaults to "contain" mode and cannot be changed.
- Fullscreen: Enabling this will display a button to attendees allowing them to expand the player and view the video in fullscreen.
- Silent Disco: Enabling this will cause the video to mute itself whenever an attendee in the room is not muted, and subsequently unmute itself when all attendees in a room are muted. This mode is most effective with "Mute on Entry" avatar modes.
- Fit: This defines how the image will fit itself into the confines of the zone you have defined.
- Cover: Attempt to cover the entirety of the component while maintaining the image's proportions, clipping the sides of it off if necessary.
- Contain: Attempt to contain the entire image within the zone without clipping or warping the image.
- Stretch: Fill the entirety of the component by stretching the image across the zone regardless of proportions.
- Auto: Attempt to select the best option for the provided image and zone.
- Controls: Enabling this will display video playback controls to attendees that hover their cursor over the zone. Videos from external sources will display the player controls native to that source.
