Microphone Audio Range

The Spatial Audio Override

By default, every room where attendee microphones are enabled will enact a Fall Off Distance. This is the distance (in pixels) at which point attendees will no longer be able to hear each other's microphones due to being too far away from one another.

This spatial audio system is designed to ensure that rooms can be full of people without everyone cutting into everyone else's conversations. It is also designed to allow for spontaneous formation of cliques and conversations within the venue, as if it were a physical space.

When the Spatial Audio Override is disabled, the room will default to a Fall Off Distance of 1000px. This is the recommended value for comfortable conversations in an average 1080p twelve-man room.

Using this override, rooms can be designed such that attendees need to be directly next to each other to hear one another - effectively enforcing a whisper room - by setting the fall off distance to a low number. Rooms can also be designed to have no fall off at all by setting the value to a value larger than the largest dimension of the room.
