My browser is unsupported - how do I enter?
If you are attempting to visit a Popup venue but are receiving an "Unsupported Browser" error, you may be affected by one of the following problems:
Social Media Messengers
If you are joining a Popup venue using a link provided to you in a messenger app, you may encounter this error when the messenger attempts to open Popup in a lite version of your regular mobile internet browser. This is because the lite browser often does not have the ability to ask for certain permissions necessary to Popup, such as camera or microphone access.
To get past this hurdle, simply open the link you have been provided in your regular internet browser. While you are looking at the "unsupported browser" error, tap the three dots at the top-right of your screen and select "Open in Browser", if it is available. This will take you to your default browser and admit you into Popup.
🙌 Camera and Microphone permissions are only required for venues that use video avatars and allow voice chat. Popup will never collect any identifiable information from you without your consent!
If you would like to skip doing this in the future, you can set most common messenger apps to open links in your regular browser by default.
While viewing your own profile, tap the menu icon at the top-right, and then scroll down to "App website permissions". Within this section, tap on "Message links" and then enable "Open in external browser".
Facebook Messenger
While inside the messenger app, tap the menu button, and then tap "Settings" or the cog icon if it replaces the settings button. Inside settings, tap "Photos & Media", and then enable "Open links in external browser".
Older browsers
If you have not updated your browser for a while, your browser may not be capable of performing all the tricks that Popup requires to display and function properly. Refer to your browser's help articles for how to update your browser to the latest version.
If this is not possible for any reason, consider using your device's default browser (Microsoft Edge for Windows, Safari for Apple devices, Chrome for Android devices).
